About Elaine

Born in New Hampshire, Elaine grew up appreciating lace from a young age. After moving to Maine with her husband she struggled to learn how to tat using instructional books. Luckily, she found a retired school teacher who was willing to teach her.

In 1985 she began Tatted Webs and started selling her pieces to the public. Elaine enjoys creating traditional patterns which can be very nostalgic such as doilies and handkerchiefs. However these days, with the understanding of cultural changes, she now creates more modern pieces that all generations can enjoy
Elaine enjoys sharing her knowledge of lace. Keep an eye out for her classes that she teaches throughout New England. Some are only about the tatting basics, while others include the history of lace and introductions to other methods like bobbin lace and tombor.

When she is not tatting, you can find Elaine spending time with her family. Her husband Jeff, their two daughters, and two adorable grandchildren.
